Ex nihilo nihil fit — nothing comes from nothing.
And yet, if we consented to withdraw into stillness, if nothing were ever to be created, if we limited ourselves to the satisfaction of primary needs within reach of the “now,” we believe that it is precisely into nothingness that we would fall.
Therefore: let us act! Because the non-existence of nothingness, or the very contradiction of becoming, is a philosophical principle with moral weight. Let us act! Because it is still worth it. Let us act! Because it is a duty to feel the desire for life. Let us invest our very selves in the good of the world, and through the fruit that we generate, give breath to hope.
For Being, if it is to endure eternally, depends upon us all—for when we withdraw into our private concerns, Being itself dies.
